Some say Manicomio offers the best Italian cuisine in the capital. Matthew Norman, food critic at the Telegraph and Guardan, for instance, gave his meal here a lofty 9.25 out of 10. Located in a refurbished former military asylum in the calm Duke of York Square just off the King's Road, Manicomio simple but elegant cuisine is reflected in its understated décor and relaxed atmosphere. The menu offers a mixture of traditional favourites and innovative delights, from anti-pasta to risotto, pasta to carne, pesce to contorni. The cooking is really something to treasure while in the summer a large al-fresco area is available in the courtyard. Manicomio also has an attached delicatessen offering a vast array of culinary treasures to take home, and a spacious café serving hot breakfasts (attention: served until 11am!), salads, bruschettas, paninis and sides.
