This bustling Turkish restaurant down an Islington side-street serves a range of delicious Mediterranean dishes at a very decent price. Recently expanded to take on the next-door building, Mem & Laz has a great atmosphere and is adorned with coloured lanterns, candles and posters of West End musicals and shows. Improvements could still be made on the toilets, but there's no doubting the food and its value for money. The likes of grilled sardines with lemon and coriander, sun dried tomatoes, prunes, seafood casserole, honey and mustard chargrilled chicken, succulent lamb steaks, stuffed pepper dolmas, grilled halloumi and much, much more feature on the menu. Portions are generous, mains start at a fiver, with a two-course lunch menu available for less than a tenner. Owing to its popularity, Mem & Laz can get very crowded - but the service usually comes with a smile, and if you don't mind a little wait you shouldn't be let down.Opening and closing times for Mem & Laz
