Next to the farmyard animals on Mudchute Farm you'll find this great, family-friendly restaurant. If you're here with your brood to explore the 32 acres of open park space, or you're taking a lesson at the nearby equestrian centre - you can see the stables from the restaurant - make time to drop in here for refuelling. They cleverly keep things simple with a rustic feel throughout - from the blackboard listing the day's dishes, with only four of five choices, to the wooden furniture. Come tea time you can wash down your butter laden scones (pulled out of the oven at 3pm) with tea, coffee or - very Famous Five and wonderfully thirst-quenching - lashings of ginger beer. Chefs Philippa Davis and Louise Johnson have impressive experience in the kitchen: Philippa as former sous chef of Moro, Exmouth Market, and chef at the River Cafe and Lidgates the butchers; and Louise as former sous chef of Rivington Bar and Grill. So you can be sure all the food is of a high standard - even the baked beans are home made. It's not just for the kids either, being on the Isle of Dogs, close to Canary Wharf, it's also gives office workers the chance to escape to the country in their lunch hour.
