Following a busy year thousand and eight Angela Hartnett secured a Michelin star for Murano in 2009. This Gordon Ramsay backed venture is one of two eateries Angela runs - there's the restaurant at his boutique hotel York & Albany on Parkway in Camden and this posh one in Mayfair. Murano offers fine dining with an Italian flavour reflecting Angela's heritage - her family emigrated from Bardi in Emilia-Romagna two generations before she was born. A la carte mains include choices of roasted turbot, rack of lamb or reg leg partridge. Angela's impressive talents in the kitchen have earned her several Michelin stars (she also had one at The Connaught Hotel) and an MBE while TV appearances - Hell's Kitchen, GMTV - have made her a household name.
