On entering Nobu you'll have to muster your best swagger to pass the bar where everyone rubber-necks to check if you are a celebrity (sorry, people!). Once you've run the gauntlet and reached your elegant table you'll notice that you're sitting amongst a crowd of diners who are all smiling. They're beaming - not because the prozac is working - but with pleasure because the food at Nobu lifts you to a happy place; it's truly world-class. Japanese classics like beef terriyake and sushi platters mingle with more innovative compotes and delicacies on a lengthy menu. Whatever you choose, youll be surprised and delighted. Sensational stuff. Though a little over-hyped and very pricey (book a table well in advance), the setting is very stylish indeed, at the top of The Metropolitan with views over Hyde Park, and the service is wonderfully eager to please, as Boris Becker discovered to his cost.
Notes: Early booking essential. Dress smart casual.
