Supermarket or upmarket? Opinions are divided over this Vietnamese eatery; it?s not too busy a weekends yet but as word gets round lunchtimes are getting packed, although the service still seems to be keeping up. The simple menu comprises various Pho, a noodle soup made from a protractedly processed stock rippling with subtle flavours, Bun, a dish based on eastern vermicelli, and baguettes with an oriental twist. The food is a mixed bag but it?s definitely more hit than miss. The enormous bowls of soup are definitely the highlight, with all stock made on site, and simmered for twelve hours. It?s not as rich, or as overpoweringly flavoured as most inexpensive oriental food, and it?s all the better for it. So it might be time to trade in your staid cheese ploughman?s for a more exotic snack tomorrow lunchtime.
