A trendy, stylish and likeable Russian restaurant which has won many friends in the past two years. Potemkin is split over two levels and has an atmosphere a bit like a nightclub, especially in the evenings when everyone is drinking. The Tsarist mirrors and plush velvet enhance this effect. The food is very good indeed, with traditional but very high quality starters (the house speciality is herring) and slightly more adventurous main courses. Stuffed baked rabbit and braised ?cossack? lamb casserole are among the best dishes on the authentic but innovative menu. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and press vodka on you at any opportunity, and most visitors to this noisy, happening place come away glowing.
