It's a world away from Knightsbridge, in the heart of the Square Mile, so it's surprising to learn that Prism is a Harvey Nichols venture. And it has the qualities you might expect from such a pedigree backing. It’s very good indeed, and also in keeping with its parent company, extremely expensive. If you're not put off by a huge bill this place is one of the best in the City, set in a series of columned rooms which the Bank of New York used to occupy, with comfortable seating, discreet and friendly service, and an excellent seasonal menu. The wine list is equally impressive. Chef is perhaps at best with seafood; the seared scallops on mash that the kitchen produced on our last visit were exquisite. In general the food is brilliant, and it’s a lovely place to go, relaxed but so well run that you feel confident that your order is well taken care of.
