We very much wanted to dislike this restaurant for calling itself 'simple' when it boasts swirly gold walls, trendy sous vide cooking, and crisply besuited staff. Once our starters arrived, however, we found it hard to keep our irritation up. In fact, we could soon see why the cooking has earned this place a coveted Michelin star. The flashier main courses were decent posh Italian food, of the kind you can get all over Mayfair and Soho, but the starters were a magnificent selection of soups, carpaccios and cheesy salads, which stuck close to the restaurants rustic ambitions. The puddings were equally impressive, and though the prices will probably put some people off, for cooking of this quality, they are entirely reasonable.Opening and closing times for Semplice
