Tas is a delightful place, serving chic Turkish food at affordable prices in a thoroughly pleasant environment. The cheerful, helpful staff definitely add to the experience, especially as the menu can be confusing to the uninitiated. The starters are sublime - try the broad beans and the meatballs. The mains as you might expect feature a lot of grilled and kebabed meat, but prepared with wonderfully light, fresh seasonings. The fish dishes are cooked in a simple manner that brings out their freshness. Ingredients, spices and the wine are all carefully sourced and very reasonably priced. Tas is also an oasis of good eating in the otherwise depressing and overpriced Bankside area. A meal here will leave you with a contented smile as broad as those worn by the staff. Charming.
