Cafe 2 (Tate Modern)

A brasserie at Tate Modern. It's really good! No really, given the lack of choice around here you might expect average to good food at extortionate prices. What you get is very expensive, but astonishingly good fare, served in huge, hearty portions. This family friendly second-floor cafe makes the most of its superb location with a quaint balcony and floor-to-ceiling windows. Linger around the lively fuchsia hangings, sit at the long, sleek bar or head to the cosy balcony to enjoy the simple, but high quality, and delectable fare. The fresh seasonal menus (including a classic and healthy kids menu) that reflect Modern European and Mediterranean influences are a cut above the usual museum-cafe offerings.

After the austere solemnity of the gallery, this place fills you with joie de vivre and is the perfect preparation for a walk back to civilisation over the Millennium Bridge.
