The Ambassador is one of the more special among of the gastro pubs in Exmouth Market thanks to its short but eclectic menu. It also owes it's success to owner Clive Greenhalgh whose background at the front of house at The Brackenbury (now closed) and Bank have stood him in good stead. Backing from Michael Belben, one of the men behind the Eagle in Farringdon, variously described as 'the original gastro pub', has clearly only helped to ensure that this place remains resolutely down to earth, in a good way. The simple decor is all you need to enjoy all-day dining, from waffles with banana and marscapone in the morning to slow-cooked Herdwick mutton with creamed parsnips for supper. Nearby restaurant Moro also adds to the reputation of the pedestrianised Exmouth Market as a destination for fine dining.
