Another beautiful restoration from Renaissance pubs has created an airy, spacious pub and dining room, with white-painted bricks and big windows. The menu is sensibly-priced and full of exciting modern British options, but the kitchen is decidedly patchy, with dishes arriving overcooked or underseasoned. Service was friendly but clueless, and the decision to play loud music in a crowded dining room made it almost impossible to hold a conversation. Gripes aside, this is a convivial spot, and some of what we ate - especially the starters - was fantastic at this price. Anywhere else, a gastropub like this would be a great asset, but Northcote Road is a bit of a gastronomic capital, and the cooking at the Bolingbroke is going to have to become a great deal more consistent.The Bolingbroke images
