Tucked onto a quiet street around the corner from Fulham Broadway, The Farm looks like a typical upmarket boozer from the outside. Walk round behind the bar to gain access to a large, chic dining room with wall to wall windows on a pleasant courtyard. (Although there's not much point doing this without a reservation.) The Farm changed hands in 2006, moving from restauranteur Tom Etridge (responsible for The Ebury, Waterhouse and Running Horse) to the Majol group owned by Charlie Latham and Ryder Butler. We didn't notice much change - the interior was left largely untouched and the food remains of a high calibre. Don't let the 'in pub' location fool you - this is no gastropub, it is a full blown restaurant, complete with a good wine list. (A word of warning here though: we've repeatedly found our first choice is unavailable and a more expensive alternative is then suggested without the hiked up price being highlighted.) That said, The Farm serves decent British classics - and is one of the best doing so in the area. Scallops and Black Pudding stand out among the starters, but both Seabass and cumin-cooked Lamb are exceptional mains. A comforting eggy bread rounded off a wonderfully satisfying meal. Pricey maybe, but The Farm is worth every penny. Highly recommended.
