The Forge is a modern European restaurant and bar in the heart of Covent Garden. It is the third restaurant from Robert Siegler who also owns the well respected Le Café du Jardin and Le Deuxieme - both of which are nearby. Head Chef Andy Barber has gained a reputation by cooking for art lovers at Tate Britain and for lovers at The Bleeding Heart. Here he serves a tradition menu with a large selection of fish and shellfish. Starters range from oysters, lambs kidneys on toasted sourdough and - if you're feeling brave - snails. Mains include halibut with puy lentils, whole Dover sole and pork chops. The restaurant seats 80 and has a private dining room to hire for 20. If you want to sample the atmosphere but the food is out of your price league, try the basement bar which boasts an extensive wine list, many of which are available by the glass. During the summer months you can opt to enjoy eating al fresco.
