Rocco Forte's Brown’s Hotel was not only the first ever hotel to open in London, but was also home to the first ever hotel restaurant. With Mark Hix, formerly at the Caprice group, overseeing things The Albemarle is a resolutely traditional British grill. That traditional feel is reflected in Olga Polizzi's interiors too - beautifully restored wood panelling, Philippe Hurel banquets with a collection of contemporary photographic images by Herbertus von Hohenlohe. Hohenlohe’s photography provides a lighter, more contemporary ambiance complimented by the lighting provided by hanging lanterns, as well as specially commissioned 1930s style wall fixtures. The moss green leather banquette seating adds further privacy and space, and cream linen Roman blinds allow natural daylight to flood the room. During the day the atmosphere is light, airy and bright; for dinner, the mood is enhanced by subtle lighting and candles.
