One of the most famous restaurants in the world, with a deserved reputation for sublime modern European cooking. This legendary dining room offers the best in French and British dishes, with the occasional fusion dish on a long and tempting menu. The Ivy is famous for the difficulty of booking a table, what with celebrities and half of theatreland dining here, but it's well worth the effort. The snobbish booking line is surprising given that once inside the staff of the Ivy are not only extremely courteous and professional but also friendly. The dining room is plain and elegant, matching the simple but stylish menu. Hamburger, fishcakes and kedgeree are heading towards the comfort food end of the spectrum but even these basic dishes are absolutely first class. Put your best frock on - the papparazzi regularly camp outside to get a snapshot of the A-listers who regularly dine at The Ivy.
