This excellent cafe is a little pricey but benefits from a beautiful, romantic location inside the gardens of Kensington Palace. Designed by Sir John Vanburgh for Queen Anne in 1704, The Orangery is a magnificent building with Corinthian columns and Grindling Gibbon's woodcarvings. It's great to find such an oasis of calm and beauty just off the busy Kensington High Street. Leave time to take a walk through the gardens after tea. A delightful spot, perfect for an afternoon date.
