Since it's opening, The Painted Heron in Chelsea has received considerable critical acclaim, as has Head Chef Yogesh Datta for his interpretation of 'Modern Indian' cuisine. The restaurant lies on Cheyne Walk on the Chelsea embankment, close to Battersea Bridge, and fully reflects the artistic heritage of the area. The dining rooms display contemporary British artwork to compliment the warm yet minimalist interiors and an intimate courtyard also provides a pleasant venue for al fresco dining in the summer (providing the weather plays along). Some of the most interesting dishes include such items as guinea fowl stir fried in spring onions, masala and cottage cheese and tandoori roasted lamb chump with tomato tamarind chutney. The restaurant was completely re-furbished and re-opened in October 2010.
