The pine furniture, copper lampshades and lengthy menu give visitors the impression that Three Bridges is nothing more than a rather pricey version of Strada, tucked away in the lifeless area between Vauxhall and Battersea. In fact, though, this is a serious attempt to bring innovative contemporary Italian cooking to an area wholly devoid of any kind of nightlife. Most of the food was good, and some was excellent - the Pizza Gourmet is a particularly masterful creation, with bottarga and sturgeon's eggs on a perfectly light pizza base - and prices are very reasonable. Other highlights included a gutsy smoked salmon and red onion salad, and an imaginative wine list. The question, though, is whether a restaurant like this can really survive on the passing trade from Battersea Dog's Home. It certainly deserves to.
