This is a lovely little café, which hosts an inspiring program of folk, blues, psychedelia and poetry downstairs. It's also the place where Private Eye was first set up, Bob Dylan played his first London gigs, the Black Panthers had their European base and Paul Simon, Charlie Watts, Sammy Davis Jnr and Jimi Hendrix played some of their first London gigs. The food is classic cafe grub - grills, salads, pasta and nibbles - but with all the ingredients sourced from top suppliers, it's of a very high standard. Funky decor, fine cocktails and great fry-ups make the Troubadour a prime place to kill a hangover at the weekend.
