Vasco and Piero opened their eponymous restaurant in 1971 above the Academy cinema in Oxford Street and The Pavilion moved to its current location at 15 Poland Street in 1989. The food is typical of the Umbria region - where Vasco was born - and much of the produce is sourced direct from farmers in the region. Particular favourites are truffles, wild mushrooms, seasoned cheeses and cured meats such as lombetto and capocollo. Filmmaker Terry Gilliam and politicians such as Ken Livingstone, Gordon Brown and Sir Clement Freud have been firm favourites of Vasco & Piero's Pavilion for many years.
