Gordon Ramsay's first foray into hotels, the York & Albany includes - as you'd expect from the shouty chef - a food element. Ramsay's right-hand woman Angela Hartnett oversees the choices at the restaurant, bar and deli which is housed in a former stable block and has a rustic charm that hints at its original purpose. The main building is an elegant John Nash designed 1820s coaching house on the edge of Regent's Park which the ground floor of the restaurant looks out onto. In the basement dining room the open kitchen and the plush, deep colours make up for the lack of a park view. The same tempting menu is served on both floors with options like fish stew and steamed treacle sponge drawing on Hartnett's Italian and British roots with a nod to French tastes. The set lunch menu offers great value for money but if you think even that's too much you can always browse the deli where you can get an Angela Harnett ready meal to go.
