Satsuma, Soho's urban-style Japanese restaurant, closed its doors mid-June 2011 for an extensive refurbishment. Officially re-opened in August 2011, Satsuma's authentic Japanese cuisine shifted its focus to specialise in Japanese Katsu curries. The complete redesign includes ultra-cool pod-style seating - the futuristic pods, seating up to four, are enclosed on four sides with windows in the roof to allow in subtle lighting. The restaurant will keep Satsuma's signature colour scheme of orange and grey. The new menu will offer 14 Japanese Katsu curries including: Chicken; Salmon, Soft Shell Crab; Mixed Tempura; Aubergine; and Spicy Beef. Diners can choose from classic sticky rice, udon or soba noodles with their Katsu and assorted Katsu Platters for sharing will also be available. Set on two floors, Satsuma seats 80 guests. The restaurant retains the floor-to-ceiling glass frontage overlooking Soho's quirky shops and boutiques. Pods as well as open plan tables are available on both floors.
