As absurd as it may seem, A Gold is one of the only delis in London to specialise entirely in British produce. Touted as "the village shop in the heart of London", they bring together under one roof the best, small-scale production foodstuffs from around the country. This diminutive, green-fronted shop makes you wonder why we Brits rely so much on foreign imports. The shelves of this converted wood-panelled Georgian house are stacked high with biscuits, sweets, teas, cured meats and fish, honey, jam, chutney and farmhouse cheese. To accompany the food there’s an impressive array of liquid refreshments from fruit cordials and mead, to sloe gin and Somerset brandy. This is the place to discover all the joys of British cuisine. Uncover the sweetly yet savoury tones of chutney, sniff out aromatic teas, indulge in pungent cheeses, wake up to spicy mustard and wash it all down with some immediately quaffable ale and wine.A Gold images
