For sensible, sturdy clothes well-suited for hardy outdoor wear, Barbour specialities are the obvious choice. Since 1984, J. Barbour & Sons have produced popular countryside garb from Barbour body warmers to Wellie boots The traditional wax jackets are possibly the shops forte and the most famous. They manage to keep the jackets up to date with contemporary fashion styles which obviously helps nurture the shops appeal to the London crowd. However, all their clothes and footwear are perfectly suited to tramping across Hampstead Heath or weekend escapes to rural parts. They also do some more serious bits and bobs for people with horses and labradors like riding boots and chaps. None of which is particularly useful to your average Londoner. So, if you are a true city dweller, it's probably just the classic Wellingtons that will appeal most and maybe the odd wax jacket.Barbour images
