Crimson is a delightful women's fashion boutique set up in November 2006 in what's euphemistically called Connaught Village, tucked away behind the busy Edgware Road. The shop lists designers like LA label Ziji, named one of the LA's best by Women's Wear Daily, and Trashy Diva, a design house head-quartered in New Orleans, Louisiana. The American bias is explained when you meet shop owner Anmarie McDonald and hear her distinct American accent. But you will find British labels here too: Bee Farrell, daughter of architect Sir Terry Farrell, makes kitchy accessories, including hand knitted corsages and handbags; London-based designer Ria Roberts' screen-printed garments, tote bags, knickers and fitted shirts; and Gemma Cutts' vintage-looking fabric brooches and shoe clips are all to be found here. Not just a fashion boutique retailer, owner Anmarie McDonald - wife of the former American Ambassador to Zimbabwe - is also a writer and can often be found in the back of the shop working on her most recent work.
