If you hate the commercial, branded feel of mega bookshops like Waterstones and Borders this one's a treat. Crockatt and Powell is an independent bookshop that treats you like an individual. There's also an entertaining and intelligent blog (as you'd expect from these well read people) so not only can you find out the insider info on the publishing world you also get to know the staff's must reads, pet hates and peeves. This personal touch is extended to fundraising for the local school - buy the Harry Potter book and they'll donate their profits - and to book events for staff who've recently been published.
