The Elizabeth Street Veterinary Clinic offers a 24 hour emergency service for pets in central London, used by over 20 local veterinary practices. There has been a long history of veterinary care at 55 Elizabeth Street, the Sewell Family practiced here since the early 1800s attending to both small and large animals including horses in the cavalry in the first world war. The vets were also involved with a plan to use blood hounds to try and help solve the Jack-the-Ripper case in the 1880s. One hundred years later, five central London vets, Mr Maurice, Mr Gordon, Mr Butt, Mr Carmichael and Dr Fogle took over the clinic and set it up as it is today.
