Richard Branson stocks Gandys flip flops on his paradise island, The Rolling Stones asked them to design a beach towel and the Mayor of London is opening their first permanent London store in London's Spitalfields. Launched in the summer of 2011, by brothers Rob and Paul Forkan, Gandys started out as a brand of flip-flops, sold from a small flat in Brixton. Over the next five years they launched a swimming shorts collection, hosted a pop-up store in Brixton and became John Lewis' best-selling beachwear range. But what really sets them apart is their 'giving back' attitude; ten per cent of profits go to help disadvantaged Sri Lankan families - a cause close to their hearts; tragically, their parents were two of the 280,000 people who lost their lives in the 2004 tsunami.
