- Visitor Information
Habitat is a furniture shop which also sells kitchenware and decor items which puts the emphasis on simplicity, functionality, beauty and affordability.
The brainchild of design guru Terence Conran, Habitat began a revolution in how we furnished our homes when it first opened its doors back in the 60s. Since then a lot of furniture has been down the aisles, Ikea has come, conquered, and bought up Habitat. Nevertheless, for those looking not just for a bargain, but for furniture of a higher quality, the original is still the best.
This flagship central London store is constructed in the shell of a former cinema (in fact, where Queen Victoria watched her first film). Inside they've maintained the architectural integrity of the building, with its vaulted ceilings and neo-Egyptian details, whilst implanting a 21st century shopping experience.
