Art-dealer, gallery-owner and collector Iwan Wirth was recently voted one of the ten most powerful people in the art world. Hauser & Wirth London opened at Piccadilly 196A in 2003 in an historic building designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. This West End gallery has all the old fashioned detailing you'd expect from a former bank and yet is used to show works by modern artists. It also houses their offices andan archive. Now that they've outgrown this space they have also opened up a huge warehouse space - Coppermill, in the East End. They've also expanded into Bond Street where they hold two shows a year featuring old and established contemporary masters. There they are sharing three floors of a building with Colnaghi, one of the most well established companies in the business.
