Scandinavian design for the home. On completion, the Edmonton store will be the largest store in the UK at over 30,000m2 and will employ over 600 staff. The store is constructed over 3 storeys and we have also considered the environment in the design, including a Biomass generator that uses wood waste to heat the store. Water and rainwater harvesting will help towards the flushing of the toilets.
This chain of homeware superstores supplies a huge range of incredibly cheap, flat-pack furniture and bargain accessories in modern designs. Over the last decade IKEA have come to dominate the furniture and homeware market in the UK and Europe. Now with over 200 shops in 33 countries the expansion doesn't seem to be slowing down.
Their sleek Scandinavian designs and rock bottom prices have been so popular that it is sometimes tricky to find a household that doesn't own one of their uplighters. Once you've finished shopping you have the chance to eat some Nordic cuisine or a hot dog. A rather nice touch but slightly bizarre. You'll need to refuel though; the crowds that throng through an IKEA on a busy day are the stuff of nightmare.
There will be a free shuttle service to Tottenham Hale Underground making the store easily accessible from Central London as well as the surrounding areas of North London. Directions to the store are as follows: M25 junction 27 onto M11 onto the North Circular Road A406. Follow signs for 'Ravenside Retail Park'. IKEA Edmonton lies just beyond it on Glover Drive.
