Kokon to Zai, meaning "east meets west" in Japanese, is a mix of designer clothes and interior design pieces but what makes it stand out is the outrageous styling. The store founders, Macedonian design duo Marjan Pejoski and Sasha Bezovski, certainly know how to put on a show and sell their own label clothes - KTZ and Marjan Pejoski - alongside British designers like Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen amongst the stuffed peacocks and ornamental umbrellas. International clothes labels stocked also include US designer Jeremy Scott - as seen on the likes of Paris Hilton and Kanye West - and Belgian designers Raf Simons (creative director for Jil Sander) and Bernhard Willhelm. There are two London Kokon To Zai stores, one on Soho's Greek Street and the other on Golborne Road. In the West London store, original tiling - more frequently found in a butcher's shop - creates the background to a cornucopia of skulls, butterflies, antique pieces and taxidermy that give Koton to Zai its quirky cutting edge.
