In a former sweet shop just off Church Street in Stoke Newington, the rhubarb and custards and cola cubes sit comfortably alongside the designer jewellery, knickers and knick knacks. Of Cabbages & Kings, the brain child of Jessica Widdows, may look like a throw-back to the 1950s but the handmade gifts, toys and accessories are all sourced from up and coming artists, many of whom live in the local area. The majority of artists and designers represented are young graduates or designers who chiefly sell online through sites like etsy.com or notonthehighstreet.com, so there are some really quirky and unusual ideas as well as some beautifully crafted pieces of work. Look out for Reiko Kaneko's 'Soldier Egg Cup' and Hoolala's 'I Heart Cake' silver necklace alongside the sherbet lemons.Of Cabbages & Kings images
