In a former Post Office in Lyham Road, Clapham North, The Old Post Office Bakery set up shop in 1982. That was after they'd been serving loaves from a squat in Brixton. Now John Dungavel and his team are recognised as one of the first and best organic bakeries in South London, well known for their fresh organic bread, pasties, pastries and cakes. Flour is supplied by Shipton Mill in Tetbury, Gloucestershire who use mixtures of Stoneground Canadian and English flours which is then turned into delicious loaves of sourdough, wholewheat and white tin. Speciality loaves include fruit, date and walnut as well as sun dried tomato bread. You can get your daily bread by visiting the shop in Clapham or at various independant shops and wholefood stores throughout South London. Abel & Cole is one example of a local partner who deliver their bread and other seasonal goodies - like mince pies at Christmas - and you can also find their produce at several London markets including Oval and Marylebone Farmers' Market.Opening and closing times for The Old Post Office Bakery
