With views over St Paul's Cathedral, One New Change combines modern architecturally designed office space with a shopping centre in the heart of the financial district. Due to open for Christmas 2010, this three acre City of London development has been designed by French architect Jean Nouvel who won a 2003 competition run by property developers Land Securities for the project. The Pritzker Prize winning architect (winning the prize in 2008) has worked on more than 200 projects including the Torre Agbar in Barcelona - their equivalent of our Gherkin. For One New Change - his first UK building - Nouvel has come up with two twisted blocks with a public path separating them. Cleverly, he has made maximum use of the site's close proximity to St Paul's, with public viewing platforms at the top of the building as well as plenty of matt glass within. Being close to the London Stock Exchange and the Bank of England the development is convenient for finance and banking businesses.
