Designer furniture store the Republic of Fritz Hansen specialises in achingly beautiful classic Danish design pieces like the best selling The Series 7 chair designed by Arne Jacobsen, the best selling chair in the store's history - and possibly in history of furniture. The company was founded in 1872, when Fritz Hansen, a Danish carpenter, founded his own furniture company. In 1934, Fritz Hansen began his collaboration with Arne Jacobsen resulting in some of the famous, classic icons of Danish design. Their first store in the UK, run in partnership with Skandium, showcases the entire Fritz Hansen furniture collection along with a curated assortment of interior accessories by other Scandinavian brands such as Iittala and Georg Jensen, as well as a great collection of vintage Danish glass and ceramics from the 1950s and 1960s. The shop is a perfect foil to the minimalist design of the furniture within, fitted out by architects Lewis Granaiola who took inspiration from the Swedish detective TV series Wallander.
