Like most things on and around Columbia Road, Seamus Ryan's studio is only open on Sundays. The rest of the time Seamus works on high end international advertising campaigns and editorial shoots for clients like Nike and Guinness. On Sundays, though, Seamus runs a free open house photo session between 10am and 3pm (see www.sundayshoots.com). Each week he works on a different theme and anyone can turn up and have their picture taken for free. He posts the pictures on his website where the images are available to browse or purchase. Playwright Sir Tom Stoppard happened to come by one Sunday and sat for his portrait to be taken. The resulting image, 'The Sitting', was acquired by the National Portrait Gallery as part of its permanent collection. It now hangs in the July Acquisitions section of the gallery.
