A stroll down the Columbia Road on a Sunday will undoubtedly do wonders for your garden but the famous street where traders gather to sell their flowers can brighten up the inside of your home too. Sharon Elphick's shop displays her modern prints, mainly on canvas, which use a striking photomontage technique to capture "urban tartans" of architecture and graffiti. Fortunately she also has a passion for beauty in the natural world - nothing like being inspired by your surroundings! - and she creates patterns out of flowers in much the same way as she does with urban life. Commissions include a print for the National Grid (of pylons, appropriately) and a London montage for St Thomas' Hospital.
