This is a real locals' market selling mostly cheap clothes and household goods - so there are some real bargains to be had at Shepherd's Bush Market, off Goldhawk Road. But among the cheap tea towels there are some very pretty scarves, sari fabrics and such treasures to be found. There's also food produce at market prices including two fishmongers, falafel/kebab stalls and three butchers (at least one of which is halal) as well as a selection of vegetable stalls selling interesting things like yams, cassava and breadfruit. Continental foods cash and carry shops sell large sacks of rice. Or, if you can't wait to get home before you eat, stop off at one of the cafes, sit at their outside tables and watch the world go by.
