British clothing company Sunspel have a proud history of innovation and were the first to introduce boxer shorts to the UK back in 1947 - their very crisp white undies were modelled by Nick Kamen in that well known 1985 Levi's advert. And they continue to create quality clothing from the factory near Nottingham where they've been based for the best part of a century. The label which had been family run, was acquired in 2005 by Nicholas Brooke and Dominic Hazlehurst who continue the traditional values Sunspel stands for, claiming to be "the polar opposite of today's 'throw-away' fashion". Another Sunspel invention is the Riviera polo shirt, as seen on Daniel Craig in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale. This was made from a special warp knit cotton, a lightweight mesh fabric designed in the 1950s to be cool in the heat of the Italian Riviera. If you're looking for handmade, homespun quality clothing that won't wear out this is the place to shop. This Old Compton Street store follows the first London shop in Redchurch Street, Shoreditch.
