Here at the Londontown.com offices, it’s been known to smell a little. What do you expect when you get ten hard-working editors searching for London’s finest offerings? So somewhere like Terre d’Oc is a heaven scent (!) gift because it gives us the chance to get the office smelling like it should.
Smells are clever things: they can wake you up, put you to sleep, make you remember stuff you’d forgotten and they can even make you work harder. The Terre d’Oc stores are specially designed to give the customers the ultimate olfactory experience: small glass doors can be opened to reveal both a fragrance and an image that the fragrance is associated with, while special pumps release perfumes in measured amounts so as not to disturb the rest of the shop’s aromas.
The shop makes a special effort to get its customers to associate their products with something - carrying a range of coffee table books that will give form to something a fragrance will evoke, and separating the shop (and therefore the smells) into colour coded sections. It’s a beautiful place, full of knowledgeable staff willing to guide you and your nose to a fragrance that will make you smile. Definitely worth a visit, whether you intend to buy or browse.
