As British as a bacon buttie, buying your groceries at The Albion Emporium is like getting first dibs on Mrs Beeton's pantry. A bastion of Britishness, the food emporium sells 'comestibles and beverages' that come from the British Isles as well as produce quintessentially linked to the country. Think meat pies made from centuries old recipes, old fashioned chutneys and cheeses from Cheddar Gorge and beyond. There are, of course, plenty of teas to choose from, country cordials, orchard apple juice, regional ales, ciders and lashings of ginger beer. For the complete English picnic experience, pack your Somerset willow hamper with a selection of seasonal products and artisan goods including freshly baked bread. You can also sample the specialist foodstuffs at tasting events and festivals throughout the year, some of which are staged to celebrate historically important moments in British history. The Sherlock Holmes Appreciation Society and The Chap regularly hold their meetings in the privacy of the Refectory out the back. The Albion Emporium images
