The Pastry Pilgrim - named after their religious zeal for baked goods, perhaps? - promises 'Baking Happiness'. They sell sweet and savory food from sausage rolls to pasties and cupcakes. Opened 27th April 2009, the bakery occupies a prominent spot on the corner of Berwick and D'Arblay Street. Groovy branding is by a Manchester-based company, Syrup, who incidentally also did the designs for The Organic Cupcake Company. Their excellent organic cupcakes are on sale here alongside Cornish pasties and free range British bacon and sausages in a fresh knotted roll. They run special promotions so on pieday, for example, you can get your choice of handmade pie, mash, caramelised onion gravy or Beanz and drink for under a fiver. The Pastry Pilgrim images
