The Wallis Gallery is a 5,000 square foot warehouse in Hackney Wick with a limited shelf life. With the building earmarked for demolition - to make way for the 2012 Olympic Games' Media Centre - it may only be around until 2009. So if you want to catch some hip and happening art you better hot foot it to Hackney Wick where you'll find a number of galleries worth visiting while you're at it. The Wallis specialises in nurturing up and coming talent and any commission made from sale at its exhibitions is re-invested in the gallery to fund further exhibitions. Run by two Ruskin graduates, Edward Fornieles and Vanessa Carlos, and photographer Ross McNicol, The Wallis Gallery hosts regularly changing exhibitions as well as a fortnightly performance evening called 'Making Mistakes', and a monthly musical evening, 'The Saturn Salon'.
