Combining shop, workshop and office under one roof, Tom Dixon in Coal Drops Yard is a treasure trove of designer lighting, stone clad candles and trend setting soft furnishings. Under four stone arches hang reflective bronze orbs of light for which the designer is famous. Boucle covered cushions, fig perfume and diffusers smelling of London - the smell is, according to the blurb, of red brick and London parks with crocuses and nettles, and the salty smell of the Thames at Dagenham - are beautifully laid out. Above the shop Tom Dixon has designed The Coal Office restaurant and roof terrace, a successful creative collaboration with the team behind The Palomar and The Barbary.
