Abandoning footwear clichés, the award-winning Canadian designer Tracey Neuls launched her inventive TN_29 label in its first stand-alone shop. Quietly amassing a global throng of devotees, her footwear is bright, sunny and utterly inventive – ideal for walking the streets of London. The shop itself is just so simple, unpretentious and rather homely. They'll even serve up fresh coffee and baked bread while you try on the shoes. It is all about the footwear though, especially when you look up – some of her pairs dangle from ribbons suspended from the ceiling. Neul’s preoccupation with detail, playful curiosity and rejection of the fashion pack are reflected in her beautiful designs. You can pick-up some colourful ballet pumps and some rather different organic wedge sandals. Be warned it’s very alternative but we always welcome an element of originality here in London.Tracey Neuls images
