The seed for the Gill Wing Cookshop was sewn in early 1980s when Tim and Gill Wing started out by making ceramics and selling their wares by cycling around London gift shops with a bag full of samples. The Gill Wing shop saw them setting up a permanent premises from where they sold their own ceramics, and they soon expanded to sell the work of others and additional gift items. The Cookshop then expanded into its own space at 190 Upper Street in Islington and the shop is still going strong today. Alongside a vast choice of knives, glassware, linen and whiteware china are around 1,500 teapots, some of which were made by Gill Wing pottery. Sue is now in control of the Cookshop, bringing with her ten years' experience running Harrods's kitchen department.
