This chain of homeware superstores supplies a huge range of incredibly cheap, flat-pack furniture and bargain accessories in modern designs.
Over the last decade IKEA have come to dominate the furniture and homeware market in the UK and Europe. Now with over 200 shops in 33 countries the expansion doesn't seem to be slowing down.
Their sleek Scandinavian designs and rock bottom prices have been so popular that it is sometimes tricky to find a household that doesn't own one of their uplighters. Once you've finished shopping you have the chance to eat some Nordic cuisine or a hot dog. A rather nice touch but slightly bizarre. You'll need to refuel though; the crowds that throng through an IKEA on a busy day are the stuff of nightmare.
